Sasamoto has a reputation as an artistic genius in the contemporary nihonga art world. In 2009, he launched a special exhibition with Kisaragi Bijutsu Studio. The main "Eros and Folk Tales" themed "Hundred Oni and Entertainers" series gained great popularity. He says he is conscious of Ekin, a Japanese painter of late-Edo in Tosa, Kochi. Voluptuous at the same time having a "fear of the unseen" is his artistic expression common to his artworks as a whole.
