Honda is dedicated to the study of "Engi", the history of temples, and the design patterns that flourished during the Edo period (1603-1868). She is known for her beautiful and elegant artworks, which feature blooming flowers and patterns that carry traditional meanings.
While pursuing her graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, she engaged in Buddhist training. Today, she is both an artist and a Buddhist priest of the Shinshu Otani School.
Honda was born at Chogon-ji Temple, which is associated with Honda Tadakatsu, a prominent warrior who served Tokugawa Ieyasu during the Edo period. The temple is famous for its ceiling painting, created by innovative artists from the Tokyo University of the Arts.
