About Artist

Seiji Yoshimura

Yoshimura's artwork is characterized by a high-level layout composition which is considered to have totally changed the expression of Japanese figurative paintings of the past, and a technique of peeling multilayered mineral paints acquired through a research of classical paintings to realize the unique colour expression. Thus his highly artistic works are regarded as the greatest contemporary figurative paintings.

1987 Completed a Master’s Program at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts

1988 “Wharf” awarded Yuga-no-kai Minister of Justice Award
1989 Participate in research of Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, China (every two years from 1992 to 2000 successive)
